Here are some more random paintings and graphic images

I've got some pics on my hard drive just collecting virtual dust. Thought I'd bring them out of the basement and share them on here.

Hopefully u dig it.

Just messing around with a photo my dad took of the Bellagio hotel in Vegas.

A photoshop/illustrator graphic of poker player Barry "the bear" Greenstein. There are 5 bears in this pic.

A painting that I really enjoy. The canoe comes up often.

This is a poster I made of a building in my neighborhood.

This is my building. This is just a photo one day. No graphic work was added. The circus was in town.

My friends live here. Right next to GM place.

These bridges go in opposing directions even though at first glance it doesn't appear so. Have a look at the middle bridge closely.

Shannon Elizabeth is hot. She's also a good tennis player supposedly. I like, I like.

A portrait of my brother.

Small pic. Not sure why. Just abstract landscape type stuff.

This is a fun one.

A graphic project for the Roots song quills. Only Phrenology fans will get this one.

This is for a girl name Marlo. She doesn't know though.

There is a jet flying out of a lady's face. The jet is white. Her face is gray.

Episode is the name.

A poker graphic of me.

This was an entry for a graphic design contest. The company was called Blaq City Entertainment. They requested A/V type images in their logo. We didn't win :( but it was fun.

A couple paintings that are on display at a friends house.

Olympics at the Vancouver Art Gallery. The VAG

t-shirt. "I like Turtles" ???

Thinking about making an "I like Turtles" T-shirt with the pic of Johnathan the Zombie on the front.

Probably would be the dopest t-shirt ever made I think.

?uestlove interview - from start to now

This is a video of a long studio interview with Questo explaining basically everything about the history of the Roots starting from him and BT's first meeting (in the principle's office) in music school. Black Thought was in there for fooling around with some girl in the girls bathroom. Well, he was in there for GETTING CAUGHT doing that.

Amazing animals

I've never seen footage like this. I didn't even know that foxes could do this. Very impressive. It reminds me of polar bears who heave themselves through snow and ice when they try to catch fish.

enjoy.

MacT out

This had to happen. I think a change was necessary and by doing this they are finally demonstrating that there is (at last) some accountability in this organization.
As a coach in this league he had far too much slack on the leash from his higher ups who happen to be his buddies. A business, in an industry as competitive as the NHL, cannot function properly if people are not held accountable for their short comings and CraigMac had 8 years to get his stuff together and he did not really develop the team as a better coach could have.

Craig MacTavish era is over

I hope they find the right replacement and I hope it's a coach who has offensive systems in mind that work and fit with this particular team. I want to see the exciting team that the Oilers are capable of being and I want to see a coach who can get the best from his players and not smother them in defensive roles.

Here's to hopin!

There is something about this that defies description. It borders the edges of insanity and comical genius. This kid, this 'zombie', to be more specific, has the stone cold glaze of an immortal killing machine and he let's it be known to the camera and all those who dare tune in. You can see it in his eyes. It's like you can anticipate the gruesomeness he's about to spew.

The interviewing lady is running her chatterbox at a mile-a-minute while the zombiechild prepares his message in a simple, yet vastly profound, 3-word powerplex of brilliance.

Just some thoughts....plus Billy Bob Thornbag

I have been setting up my portfolio. The prints are not the right size so that put a speed bump in the way. Hopefully I can get that taken care of soon.

So posting on youtube is pretty brain-dead easy. Go figure. I am planning to put up a couple videos soon that will show how the small and medium (manual) Oh2B's work cause some people just don't get it or can't be bothered to read my text description of it. Video seems to be the way to go.

I have a few places in mind in Gastown that I would like to put them in. This is why the portfolio is on the go. As soon as Growing up somehow is complete I will make one more medium Oh2B and ask them if they care to do some biz-niz and set up a deal.

Ultimately I would like to be able to package the mediums and be able to ship them. This would be a pretty hefty sum at the moment since the weight and height are concerns. But I have a plan and in the long run hope to figure it all out.

So as a separate non related issue - Check out Billy Bob acting like a total DB here. Overall I'm a fan of his acting and appreciate his skills. Humping halle barry in film is commendable and getting big lip jolie to tattoo his name on her skin was also quite remarkable. For that I applaud you sir. But his behaviour in this clip dropped him down a couple pegs on the 'human scale', in my books anyway.

Yes, we get it, you are a holier-than-thou purest who thinks that everyone needs to adhere to your every beck and call or else you will act like a pretentious baby and make them feel inferior.

I understand where he is coming from in the sense that they (someone) gave specific instructions to them (someone else at the radio station) not to focus on the fact that he is already famous as an actor but still, get over yourself buddy. Take the high ground. Not the sniveling asshole ground.

Recent works

Below are a few of my most recent paintings. They are on circular canvases that are 40" in diameter. I really like working on circles and it fits very well with my preferred style.

These paintings rotate slowly on the wall with the assistance of my painting rotators called Oh2Be. There will soon be a youtube video explaining/displaying this because it's way easier to understand when you see it as opposed to reading about it.

So anyway, here are some of the paintings. They are acrylic paint, in case you're wondering.

Skulleton

There have been some additions to this since this photo was taken. I can say with certainty now that it is 100% complete - which is tough for me to do because I often have the urge to go back and fix/change/add something. The name Skulleton is an amalgamation of the words 'skull' and 'skeleton'. The image is somewhat of an abstract inverted self portrait. At the angle it is seen here, you might be able to see a tilted head/skull. The inner workings and architecture make up the units of my thought process, or at least it did at the time. There are two eggheads in this world. The one inside the house, leaning out to close the door, represents...... I dunno what. My subconscious maybe? Yeah, some shit like that.

Juniper

Juniper is a world in the sky and is some sort of escape. It's a place to travel and move without knowing which way is up and where nothing is right or wrong. Find the hot air balloon rising into the sky.

Growing up somehow

This is about youth, imagination, innocence and freedom. The combination of inanimate objects and those with life make for an interesting partnership. I strove for an essence of perpetual motion and balance. Each creature, the boy included, is young and anxious to explore. Sustenance abounds as this is a place one could and should plan to live forever.

7-9-5-4

7 = k. 9 = p. 5 = l. 4 = r. I made this with a special person in mind. What was initially just a splashy abstract made with spray-paint turned into something more. What I enjoy most about this painting is that it has reverse symmetry. Every part of the core structure is replicated on the opposite side. I was listening to many songs from Okayplayer.com when I started this one.

There's a first time for........everything

The Toblerusse blog is born.
Your attendance is appreciated.

This blog is going to be broad in scope but will have a sense of continuity. Well, that is my aim at least. I appreciate the value of basic human psychology and tend to relate most things in my life to how the mind goes about deciphering the myriad things that endlessly flood our senses. Most of what I plan to talk about will be specifically geared towards sports psychology and the mind of athletes. Certain mind states lead to success and victory while other patterns of thinking can cause failure and lack of confidence. I like exploring this and trying to figure out why these things happen.

Along with my affinity for all things psychological, I also have a passion for creating and building stuff. I like to paint in a style that I dub Abstract Architecture. Currently I have a series of circular artworks that I will periodically exhibit on this blog. The images are designed to be seen rotationally and I have built many different apparatus to accommodate this. For viewing, purchasing, and further information, please visit my online shop: www.toblerusse.etsy.com

So now, let's get started with the ranting shall we......
